Our mission

We are returning the wood to the garden.

In a time of plastic kerbs and concrete planters, we believe gardens belong to natural materials. Our wooden borders are made from wood that grew in Central European forests – just like the vegetables you'll be growing in them.

Ecological approach

🌲 Sustainable forests

100% % of our wood comes from PEFC-certified forests. For every tree processed, a new one is planted. We support local foresters and processors, not anonymous imports from the other side of the world.

Zero waste

– Sawdust and offcuts → pellets and briquettes
– Bark → mulch for gardening
– Damaged items → recycling

Short distances

We process wood within a 100 km radius of where it is felled. We deliver finished products directly from manufacturing. Fewer kilometres = fewer emissions.

🌱 Without chemicals

Our playpens are not treated with chemical agents. The wood is either natural or heat-treated (IPPC) for international transport. Safe for growing edible crops.

📜 ECO certification

ARBORIA is a registered ECO brand (arboria.eco). Our .eco domain requires proof of environmental commitment – it's not just marketing, but a verifiable promise.

Production process

How are our playpens made

1. WOOD SELECTION

Everything begins in the forest. Our suppliers are PEFC certified, which guarantees sustainable logging. We select coniferous wood (spruce, pine) with straight grain and a minimum number of knots.

2. DRYING

Fresh wood contains up to 50% %moisture. In dryers, we reduce it to an optimal 12-18% %, which prevents warping and cracking.

3. CUTTING AND PLANING

We cut desks to precise dimensions. We plane the edges for safe handling without splinters.

4. FRAME PRODUCTION

We connect the individual boards into a frame using aluminium angles. Each frame has 4 steel hinges for foldability.

5. QUALITY CONTROL

Each pen undergoes visual and dimensional inspection. We reject non-conforming items.

6. HEAT TREATMENT (IPPC)

For export outside the EU, products undergo heat treatment (56°C/30 min), which eliminates pests and is marked with the IPPC stamp.

7. PACKAGING AND DESPATCH

The hurdles are folded flat and packed in stacks. They are sent directly to you from the factory – without intermediate warehouses or resellers.
