Raised beds are not a fashion. They're the best thing to happen to gardens in years.

Raised beds have existed for thousands of years - the ancient Aztecs built chinampas, floating beds on the water surface. Modern gardeners are rediscovering them, not because of TikTok, but because of the results.

What a raised bed can actually do:
Better ground from day one. You don't have to struggle with heavy clay or sandy soil in the garden. You can put exactly the substrate your plants need in the bed. The results are visible in the first season.

Faster start in spring. The soil in the bed warms up 2-3 weeks earlier than the soil in the bed. That's an extra two weeks for tomatoes, cucumbers or basil. In the short Central European summer, this is a valuable bonus.

Less weeds, less work. A bed with defined edges is a natural barrier to weeds spreading by roots. Less area = fewer hours with the hoe.

No stomping on the soil. You walk around the flower bed, not in the flower bed. The soil remains loose and aerated without annual digging.

And the aesthetics? Yes, that too. Arboria wooden beds look good - whether you plant them in a geometric modern garden or a rustic country garden.
